We just got back from Playa De Carmen. And one of the tours brought us here to Matis I found the place very pushy wanting you to buy and when you walk away they drop the price . That’s when I knew they are trying to hustle me .. we did by a few things but not after I drop the price to 35 dollars compared to 80 dollars I believe the rings I bought are fake. But the kids like it. I wouldn’t recommend this place. For instance I was about to walk out when I seen some earring that Caught my eyes they tell me it diamonds cost is 23,000 I laughed and said ya right they turn around then and said how about 10300 I walked up to him told them stop asking me I’m walking out good bye. Anyway be careful what you buy and don’t let them push you around

I purchased a ring at this store and when I there and was told it was rose gold..ends up it is silver with rose gold coating. In order to get the ring sized the coating will come off and I will end up with a silver ring. Not impressed and for sure would not recommend this store.

Beware, this is no more than a scam. Our money was stolen and i'm now contacting visa to get my money back Long story short : We went there with a group on our way to Playa del Carmen. While we knew their jewelry wasn't anything that would be great quality, my wife found a ring she liked regardless, at a pretty acceptable price, 100$ USD. She's worn the ring for two hours and lost four "jewels" on it. She then decided that the wanted her money back rather than trying to get it repaired, it would be bound to become worse anyway. So we went back, argued and gave them the ring with a receipt "proving" that they would give us our money within the next 5 days. It's now been almost two weeks, i can't reach anybody, can't talk to anybody and have not been given my money back They even made fun of us for not buying something more expensive So i'm now with visa, they will reimburse our purchase and i'll fight my heart out so that they don't have credit cards there. TL:DR Scammers, don't buy anything

This place is unbelievable all fake costume jewellery sold as real deal prices are over inflated while the gems look nice in the shop lots of reviews where they fall out and the store will not refund cheap plated sterling silver max price to pay in this place would be $10 usd nothing more prices started at over $140 usd by the time we was leaving they was asking for $45 usd so be ware They do not let you take pictures of anything Do not think this is a factory this is a guided walk around a costume jewellery store After this you will go onto the next shop not factory If your offered this free tour it will include shopping in playa del carmen Skip this stop it wasted 2 hours of our time here and was suspose to be 1 hour

I’m so upset we wasted 2 hours here, we got offered a free shopping tour. The first place they dropped us off was here and oh boy what a night mare a pushy sales guy trying to sell fake cheap jewelry for ridiculous prices, these pieces were no better then anything you find at Claire’s. Stay away don’t fall for the “free” shopping trip tactic.

SCAM, DON'T BUY anything here!!!! I was on vacation march 10 -15, 2021. On March 12th, during the tour Matis is the first drop off. I was given the background of this place which is beautiful. How each piece is hand made, how it take many hours to complete one piece of jewelry, and how each stone is securely placed by hand. I was shown some beautiful pieces. I found the infinity ring with white topaz. I bought the ring for the price they asked $260 USD! My sales guy took my ring to be inspected to ensure the stones were protected and secure. I was ready to purchase but i had credit card issues. The credit card company put a block. Anyway the manager suggested i finish my tour and once it ends my sales guy would follow me to my hotel and i could complete my purchase with him. I found that odd but good customer service. All went well and I bought the ring. March 15th a stone is missing. I want my money back!

Had to go to this store as a part of our packaged trip to Quinta Ave in Playacar. The staff will walk the entire store with you and try to sell you on items that are extremely overpriced and not certified to be made of the materials they claim they're made of. The demonstration with the colour-changing stone was cool, but like others have said here, it's most likely glass and not a previous gem. Unfortunate that this and the affiliated tequila shop (similarly falsely advertised as a factory when it is just a store) take up so much time. Downtown Playa is much nicer and a much better representation of local goods.

The store has some decent jewelry and some costume jewelry. Ask detailed questions about silver/gold plating and authenticity of stones. Stay away from the color changing "Mayan" stone....it's more than likely glass. My husband purchased a ring with the mysterious stone and his finger turned green the next day. He complained with our tour coordinator and Matise Jewelry brought a replacement to our hotel. My husband was allowed to keep the original and the replacement...if the stone was real I don't think he would be allowed to keep both ?
