Went to dive in cenotes with Davide - I would totally recommed this dive master. Extremely professional and trustworthy. The service at the front desk was also great.

We feel bad writing this review because the owner was very courteous from the start with us, great communication all around. Also, our divemaster Jean-Philippe was very nice, great for exercises in the swimming pool for our refresher (10+ years since last dive) and for the other couple with us (he's also open water, but she was doing discover scuba). Diving was another matter entirely. We had two shallow dives planned, but there was no explanation as to what we were going to do, just our respective position in the group. Our second shallow dive, we descended and regrouped with our divemaster, but the other couple was nowhere to be found. I was expecting our divemaster to tell us to wait there while he would go for them (how he lost them in the first place, I don't know), but all he was doing was banging on his tank. We waiting patiently and after at least 5 minutes, the couple shows up and regroups. I still can't believe that for her second dive of her life she had to descend out of sight of the divemaster, accompanied by her fiancé who doesn't have that much experience. Later in the dive, the weight belt of my girlfriend detached itself. The same almost happened to me once many years ago, why are these type of belts still in use? Anyways, I'm glad the photographer was around, we got my gf to stay down and reattached her belt with the extra help from another divemaster. Our own divemaster was nowhere in sight. We regrouped and continued the dive. At some point we saw them edge higher up, we imagined the beginner was having trouble with her buyancy, but after a while, they were simply gone. My gf was a bit nervous. I asked her to wait a bit, but after a while we decided to make our ascent. The other couple was already in the boat, the dive master was floating next to it. I still have no idea why they surfaced without signaling us, or he didn't think it would be a good idea to come back for us after the other couple reached the surface (without going all the way to the boat). After all these hickups, it seems quite minor to mention, but I saw our divemaster approach a small piece of fluorescent string lying on the sand, inspect it, and... discard it. I followed and brought the trash back to the surface. We had no explanation or excuses once on the boat, we only heard that the fiancé had gone through his air and reached 1000 psi. Talking about gauges, our divemaster did not ask us to read it in either dives (while the photographer did on the first dive). We gave some of these details to the owner, who thanked us for bringing it to his attention, but didn't offer an apology nor a rebate.

Very competent and easy to book a discovery dive. The instructor, David, was knowledgeable and easy to understand. He helped my partner get comfortable in the water and showed us two very pretty reefs. The price, $120US, per person for a discovery dive seems fair. We spent about 6 hours, including introduction, pool practice and 2 reef dives. The shop does add 5% if you pay with a credit card.

We had an amazing time with the Scuba Playa Dive School. I did my Open Water and Advanced Course for a very good price. The Team is super relaxed and you feel very welcomed like a family :) Thanks guys!

This is one of the best dive shops I've been to in Playa del Carmen. I've been going to Playa del Carmen for about 15 years. Everyone on staff are great and I'll be using them soon to get my son into the life of scuba diving. ?

My kid did there a open water course and enjoyed it greatly. I joined him in the dives, and this was a great experience. Michael the instructor and Pablo at the front desk were very responsive and professional.

These guys are AMAZING!!! I live in Dallas, TX and just got certified a couple of days before my trip to Playa. I called and talked with Pablo and he was extremely helpful in making sure all the dives would fit my skill level as I was brand new to diving. He hooked me up with JP the diving guide. JP WAS SOOOOOOO GOOD! He’s a super nice guy and was very very good at making sure I understood how the dives were going to go and making sure all my gear worked properly. Under the water he made sure to point out everything of interest and would even show me some really cool little things that I definitely would’ve missed on my own. We saw everything from sharks to sea turtles to giant lobsters. I did 2 Cozumel dives, 2 dives at dos ojos Cenote and then 2 Playa dives. Great experience and would absolutely recommend them!!! Great shop and an AMAZING guide!

Just got back to Canada after spending 2 weeks in Playa diving with Scuba Playa. These guys are great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. One of the best parts for me was the small group sizes. Boats weren’t stuffed full ever. Sat on the beach and watched other dive boats come in one had 20 divers on it plus staff. Thank you, Playa Scuba we will be back.
